NGK surprised with special highlights and news at Automechanika 2018

NGK SPARK PLUG’s presence at Automechanika Frankfurt, the world’s most important trade fair for the automotive service industry, was a huge success. The show had concluded on the 15th of September following five trade fair days with a record number of exhibitors, exhibition space and 136,000 trade visitors from 181 countries. NGK SPARK PLUG’s  spacious, modern and light 180 sq m stand, located in Hall 3, was recognisable from afar by the company’s corporate colours – red and green – and NGK SPARK PLUG’s renowned logo. Visitors to the stand learned about all the exciting news NGK SPARK PLUG had to share: a brand new website, the launch of the engine speed and position sensors, plus extended ranges of exhaust gas temperature and oxygen sensors. Mechanics who were especially quick and precise at changing spark plugs, even had the chance to win 250 Euros at this year’s Automechanika ‘Mechanic Games’.

On arrival, visitors immediately felt welcome on-stand, thanks to its spacious, open meeting area and plentiful white bar tables and stools. Both of NGK SPARK PLUG’s brands were represented: ‘NGK Ignition Parts’ as well as ‘NTK Vehicle Electronics’.
One of this year’s unmissable highlights was to be found at the heart of the stand: a big holographic box, representing all NGK Ignition Parts and NTK Vehicle Electronics products in a fascinating 3D hologram. Placed on a pedestal, it visualised all NGK SPARK PLUG’s product lines, three-dimensionally projected into a space between glass panes – including for example its newly launched selection of premium engine speed and position sensors; the parts that provide the ECU with the most essential information needed to run the engine.
What’s more, thanks to these newly launched products, NGK SPARK PLUG now offers the aftermarket’s most extensive range of engine speed and position sensors, making its NTK Vehicle Electronics brand a complete, one-stop shop for replacement sensors.

Another product that could be seen in the holographic box is NGK SPARK PLUG’s recently extended range of exhaust gas temperature sensors. Previously, identical exhaust gas temperature sensors (EGTS) from NGK SPARK PLUG’s sensor brand NTK Vehicle Electronics were available in different cable lengths, each with its own part number. Now, after a range harmonisation, each sensor comes in a single cable length suitable for all of its relevant applications – reducing the overall number of EGTS part numbers listed, for easier stock-holding. And there was even more news from NGK SPARK PLUG at Automechanika.

Did you know that NGK SPARK PLUG is the world’s largest supplier of OE oxygen sensors? Now, responding to ever-stricter emissions regulations, NGK SPARK PLUG has made 20 further, wideband oxygen sensors available to distributors and workshops. By expanding its range of these specific sensors, NGK SPARK PLUG has increased its oxygen sensors coverage for diesel and petrol applications in Europe.
Apart from sensors, NGK SPARK PLUG is also, first and foremost, the world’s number one supplier of ignition parts. Mechanics who wanted to get a hands-on feel of the company’s spark plugs had the chance to participate in this year’s ‘Mechanic Games’, inaugurated by the German Independent Aftermarket Association (VREI e.V.) and 16 of its member companies. The competition took place in a marquee at the Agora – which means ‘assembly’ or ‘market place’ in ancient Greek – an open area in the middle of the exhibition ground. Here, in the centre of the ‘market place’, NGK SPARK PLUG hosted a well-attended spark plug changing competition. The goal: to exchange spark plugs as quickly as possible, whilst also being precise. The competition was targeted at workshop professionals and up-and-coming mechanics. Participants or teams of up to three who finished at least five of the 15 stations could win a cheque for 250 Euros.

In case you couldn’t make it to this year’s Automechanika, there’s still a way to explore NGK SPARK PLUG’s new products and services. Just go to www.ngkntk.com  and check out NGK SPARK PLUG’s brand new EMEA-wide website, which went live just before the show. The site offers visitors a simpler structure, clear visuals, multi-platform formatting, easy-access product data and a host of opportunities to watch, read and share engaging lifestyle content from any device and any location, thanks to built-in geo-location recognition.

NGK SPARK PLUG’s helpful technical information has been rewritten and placed in dedicated sections. In addition, the complete spectrum of technical information, training videos and interactive learning modules has been collated within TekniWiki, the company’s very own on-line technical platform for the NGK SPARK PLUG EMEA region, which can be easily accessed by garages and workshops. Enjoy exploring!
