The world’s number one ignition and sensor supplier NGK SPARK PLUG EUROPE has promoted current Marketing Director Aftermarket EMEA, David Loy, to the position of Vice President Aftermarket EMEA from October 1, 2018.
Based at NGK SPARK PLUG’s EMEA regional headquarters in Ratingen, Germany, David Loy will take over responsibility for the EMEA Aftermarket business unit from Damien Germès, Senior Vice President EMEA and EMEA Supervisory Board member. David Loy will report in this role to Damien Germès, who has also been responsible since 2014 for the entire EMEA operations (supply chain, finance, IT, human resources, business excellence, administration), supporting all NGK business units in the region.
In his new role Loy will steer the company’s expanding Automotive Aftermarket business unit, which supplies a growing portfolio of ignition parts and sensors for the automotive, motorcycle, small engine and power tool markets across EMEA. Loy will oversee all sales and marketing aspects of the business in EMEA.
ESSEC Business School graduate Loy, who has led a series of product, service and online successes since joining the company as Marketing Director in 2013, brings wide-ranging automotive industry experience and a global perspective to the role. He was previously at Valeo Service, holding several senior management positions at its headquarters in France and in China. He also has long experience of working in Asia Pacific.
Amongst his achievements at NGK SPARK PLUG EUROPE, Loy has driven significant expansions to its product portfolio in tune with market demand. He was also behind the company’s new technical service training provision and its pioneering, 24/7 on-line technical platform, TekniWiki. Digitalisation has been another of Loy’s focus areas including, amongst others, establishing a fully integrated, widely followed social media programme.
Damien Germès, Senior Vice President EMEA and EMEA Supervisory Board member at NGK SPARK PLUG EUROPE, welcomed Loy’s proven capabilities. “David’s successes and business acumen make him the natural choice for this vital role. In the past five years he has led some of the most exciting developments our company has seen. His vision has directly influenced our financial growth, made our communications more future-facing, and firmly established our brands in new markets. I am delighted that he has agreed to build on that even further as Vice President with overall responsibility for our Aftermarket business in EMEA.”
