The new items include 27 plug shaft ignition coils, one block ignition coil and one ignition coil system. The plug shaft ignition coils are single spark units that are plugged directly onto the spark plug and operate with one coil per cylinder. Because of their positioning, the coils generate high-voltage pulses directly at the spark plug, causing it to ignite fuel efficiently. The advantages of the coils include less risk of voltage loss and less space required in the often crowded engine compartments.
By design and construction, Niterra ignition coils are heat and moisture resistant. They meet the company's high standards by guaranteeing reliable ignition, the highest level of electromagnetic compatibility and a long service life.
Reference U6051 is also a special ignition coil system for the now discontinued Saab 9-3 and 9-5 models. This item is predicted to have a high sales volume in the coming years, despite its declining vehicle fleet.
"With our range expansion, we are strengthening our ignition coil portfolio. These high-quality items will help us expand our vehicle coverage in the EMEA region and increase the aftermarket offering," says Frank Massia, Director Marketing Aftermarket EMEA, Niterra EMEA GmbH.
Three of the new ignition coils alone, designated U5340, U5512 and U5478, can be used for a wide range of Mercedes-Benz passenger cars. These include the popular A-, B- and C-Class models, SUVs and sports cars such as the G-Class, GLA, GLK, GLB, GLC, ML, SL and SLK Roadster. The U5340 reference covers more than 1.4 million in-service vehicles (VIO) of the company's 1.9-liter engine produced in the EMEA region over the past decade.
For South Korean automakers Hyundai and Kia, the U5454 and U5497 references are tailored to the popular Kia Ceed, Proceed, Xceed, Picanto, Rio and Stonic vehicles, as well as the i20, i30, Kavai and Kona models from sister brand Hyundai. In addition, the new range also includes the reference U3040, a block ignition coil that has two high-voltage outputs.
In addition, the new parts also cover aftermarket needs for many popular vehicles, all of which have promising future fleets. For example, reference U5495 covers more than 1.1 million VIO for Ford EcoBoost engines, while coil U5279 covers more than 1.25 million VIO for Mazda engines. Other manufacturers covered include Opel, Toyota, Volvo, Honda, and the best-selling brands in the EMEA region, Renault and Dacia.
All new ignition coils will be listed in TecDoc and Part Finder as of May 20, 2023. For more information, visit www.ngkntk.com/nordic.
