World-leading ignition and sensor specialist NGK SPARK PLUG has reinforced its commitment to the independent Aftermarket by becoming a shareholder of TecAlliance, the leading global provider of data, integrated process solutions and consulting services in the automotive aftermarket.
As an enabler and driver of digitalisation, TecAlliance’s portfolio includes up-to-date international vehicle and product data, repair and maintenance information, the TecDoc catalogue and solutions for order-to-invoice management, fleet management, effective data management and analytics as well as consultancy services and implementation.
The move positions NGK SPARK PLUG as a key supporter of the advanced data and information services that TecAlliance supplies to parts traders and workshops worldwide.
Damien Germès, Senior Vice President EMEA at NGK SPARK PLUG Europe GmbH confirmed: “To become a shareholder of TecAlliance is a strategic decision and investment for NGK SPARK PLUG. We fully understand how essential it is for Aftermarket distributors and workshops to have high-quality, instant data in a fast-changing market where digital solutions are becoming of vital importance. This investment is another demonstration of our commitment to continuously serving and supporting the independent Aftermarket. As a shareholder we are now ideally placed to support TecAlliance in delivering future digital excellence to the Aftermarket.”
“We are pleased to welcome as a new shareholder such an important player from the field of vehicle electronics”, emphasised Jürgen Buchert, Managing Director of TecAlliance. “This is another step towards our continuous goal to optimise and deepen the quality of our data and tailor-made solutions for a digital automotive aftermarket.”
NGK SPARK PLUG’s shareholding in TecAlliance provides an additional platform for the company to further develop its leadership in the ignition and vehicle electronics Aftermarkets, not only across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, but also globally given TecAlliance’s expansion all over the world.
NGK SPARK PLUG has already expanded its product offering in recent years, adding ignition coils, exhaust gas temperature sensors, MAP and MAF sensors to its existing line-up of NGK spark plugs, glow plugs, ignition leads and NTK lambda sensors.
NGK SPARK PLUG has also increased its strategic capabilities across the region. In 2017 the company took over responsibility for parts sales in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. A further investment also saw NGK SPARK PLUG significantly strengthen its logistics provision with the opening of a state-of-the-art distribution centre in Duisburg, Germany. The highly automated centre supplies customers in 44 countries with fast, reliable parts deliveries.
“NGK SPARK PLUG’s TecAlliance shareholding, our continually expanding product portfolio and high volume central supply chain are all key milestones in NGK SPARK PLUG’s vision for servicing the Independent Aftermarket,” added Mr Germès. “With continued investments like these, both we, and our customers, will be able to meet the challenges of the future.”
