DILKAR8R9HS and DILKAR6Q8 were launched in September last year. DILKAR8R9HS is following the OE business of Niterra while DILKAR6Q8 will function as a cross item for a high amount of recent Toyota applications. DILFR6N-T was launched at the end of February 2024. Collectively, these new references cover key cars from Renault (Megane 1.8 RS), Toyota (C-HR 1.8 Hybrid, Corolla 1.8 VVTi Hybrid and various Prius vehicles, including the PHV 1.8 Plug-in Hybrid model) and Lexus (the ES and GS).
The fourth unit - ZFR5BIX - was also launched in February 2024 as a precious metal upgrade to the existing nickel spark plug ZFR5P-G, which has been in NGK’s product range for some time. It covers the Volkswagen Group brands Seat (Cordoba, Ibiza), Skoda (Fabia) and VW (Polo, Lupo and Fox).
In addition to the four newly launched plugs, Niterra has significantly expanded the versatility of the ILKR7B8, which accommodates a considerable amount of Hyundai i10 and i20 models with this previously launched IAM plug.
The new entries are expected to cover a car parc of more than 4.8 million vehicles in 2024, while the additionally covered car parc is seen expanding a further 8% within the next year.
“Once again, we are extending our already comprehensive range of NGK Ignition Parts precious metal spark plugs to cover even more of the top models from the world’s leading automakers. These new references offer customers superb 4-wheel Aftermarket products that promise our usual high standards of ignition, performance and high resistance to wear”, said Frank Massia, Director Marketing Aftermarket EMEA at Niterra EMEA GmbH.
Four of the spark plugs are part of Niterra’s Laser Iridium range, which has at its heart a laser-welded iridium alloy on the centre electrode and, in most cases, a platinum chip on the ground electrode. This ensures optimal performance over a long lifetime, with features including stable idle, superior anti fouling, improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions. ZFR5BIX features a special technology, the annular gap, that prevents carbon particle deposits from blocking the ignition voltage. It also has an extremely thin laser welded central electrode that provides outstanding ignition performance.
These latest additions to the company’s product range help once again to strengthen Niterra’s commanding Aftermarket lineup of NGK spark plugs and cement the company’s position as a trusted global Aftermarket leader in ignition technologies.
All of the new products are already listed in TecDoc and will be added to the company’s 4-wheel spark plug catalogue.
