Niterra kicks off 50th celebrations at Automechanika Birmingham

Niterra UK Ltd marked its 50th anniversary celebrations in spectacular fashion today at Automechanika Birmingham, drawing crowds to its stand (E80 - Hall 20) for a series of standout moments.

The show opened with a special address from Managing Director Marko Wowczyna, who reflected on the company’s five-decade journey from a small warehouse in Hendon to a leading force in the UK aftermarket. He said: “Today is not just a celebration of the history of Niterra UK and our NGK Ignition Parts and NTK Vehicle Electronics brands - but a declaration of intent for our future. We’re proud of our legacy but even more excited for what lies ahead.”

The centrepiece of the morning was the dramatic unveiling of the iconic John Player Special Lotus F1 car - a symbol of Niterra’s long-standing ties with motorsport excellence. Once revealed, the car was an instant hit. It drew crowds throughout the day and will remain on the stand for the rest of the show.

Following the opening ceremony, Marko was joined by IAAF Chief Executive Mark Field for a live Q&A. Field praised the industry’s evolution and Niterra’s role in supporting UK garages and motor factors, adding: “Congratulations to Niterra UK for reaching 50 years in the UK. It truly is a fantastic milestone and success story. The future of the aftermarket will undoubtedly bring change but the commitment and passion in our sector remains constant.”

Day one also saw NGK Spark Plugs motorsport ambassador Charlie Martin make a special guest appearance, with plenty more still to come - including ambassador Max Coates attending on Thursday and ongoing showcases of NGK and NTK parts and services.

The celebrations continue tomorrow as Niterra’s golden year unfolds.
