Lindgren returns to form in Poland

NGK Ambassador Freddie Lindgren returned to the podium at the KGHM FIM Speedway GP of Poland – Gorzow on Saturday (June 24).

The Swede shook off the disappointment of only scoring five points at the last SGP in Teterow, Germany by taking third place behind Poland’s triple world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik and Denmark’s Leon Madsen.

The final was started three times after Lindgren fell in a hard-fought first bend at the first attempt. Australian star Jason Doyle then tumbled in the second run of the race as Zmarzlik and Lindgren passed him going into lap two.

Lindgren had reached the final by beating NGK stablemates Robert Lambert and Tai Woffinden at the semi-final stage with his sixteen-point haul taking him to third place in the 2023 World championship with 68 points, 22 behind leader Zmarzlik.

Lambert finished in fifth position in Poland with 12 points, Woffinden scored nine points and Bewley eight and they now sit in sixth, ninth and eighth positions respectively.

John Money, who handles Speedway sponsorship on behalf of NGK-brand owner Niterra UK Ltd, said: “It was great to see Freddie return to his aggressive best in Gorzow to strengthen his position near the top of this year’s championship and I’m sure he will be looking to push on during the rest of the SGP series.”

Next up for the sport’s top stars is the FIM Speedway GP of Sweden – Malilla on Saturday, July 15.
