slashesNGK SPARK PLUG announces new, future-facing EMEA Aftermarket structure

NGK SPARK PLUG, the world-leading ignition and sensor specialist, has restructured its Regional Aftermarket Business Unit EMEA as of 1st April 2019, to ensure the company is strongly positioned for ongoing industry changes and emerging market opportunities in the coming years.

The restructure creates four, international sales regions to provide focus and flexibility as markets and customers expand beyond national borders: Central Europe; Eastern Europe and Eurasia; Western Europe; Middle East and Africa. Each of these regions reports to David Loy, Vice President Aftermarket EMEA and is led by an experienced manager with a proven NGK SPARK PLUG track record. Marc Kuntzsch, formerly General Manager DACH, has been promoted to Director Central Europe; Igor Skornik, previously Commercial Director, becomes Director Eastern Europe and Eurasia; David Bassas, the former General Manager Iberia, is appointed Director Western Europe; and Tufan Baysal, previously General Manager South East Europe, is named Director Middle East and Africa.

The EMEA reorganisation is designed to enable NGK SPARK PLUG to meet new business practices that are emerging across the Aftermarket, as well as reinforce the focus to the customers. David Loy, Vice President Aftermarket EMEA at NGK SPARK PLUG EUROPE confirmed: “Recently there have been major changes in the Aftermarket environment propelled by concentration and digitisation. Since there will be more changes in our industry, it is now time to adapt our structure to face the new challenges lying ahead of us. With these developments we will be well prepared for the future."

Within the four new sales regions, additional organisational enhancements enable individual markets to receive full attention. For example, Central Europe takes responsibility for Italy, Benelux, the Nordic countries and DACH. Similarly, within the Eastern Europe and Eurasia sales region, customers from the Baltic States will be served by the Eastern Europe team.

In addition a new Business Development function – including the newly created post of Business Development Director – is being established to align functional sales expertise across the four sales regions. A new Head of Strategy is being appointed to implement the company’s strategic vision. Also directly under David Loy is recently announced Director Marketing Frank Massia and his team.

“This improved, internationally focused organisational structure gets NGK SPARK PLUG ready for its future across the EMEA Aftermarket,” continued David Loy. “I congratulate my colleagues on their challenging new positions and look forward to working with them as we build our business in markets both existing and new.”
