NGK Sales Manager from the UK bikes across Europe for charity

Ratingen, 30.07.2015 – To raise funds for the Down’s Syndrome Association in the United Kingdom, Stuart Bayne (51), a Sales Manager from NGK Spark Plugs (UK), completed a sponsored cycle ride through five countries. On July 15, he stopped at NGK Spark Plug Europe in Ratingen.

 

On July 13, Stuart Bayne embarked upon his journey from Hemel Hempstead, leaving from the headquarters of his employer and the main sponsor of the charity ride, NGK Spark Plugs (UK). Accompanied by Stuart Larder, a long-year NGK customer and good friend of Bayne’s, who drove the support vehicle, he biked across England to Harwich. From there he took the ferry across the English Channel to Hoek van Holland. His voyage led him further through the Netherlands to another pit stop: NGK’s European Headquarters in Ratingen on July 15. 

On the occasion of Stuart's visit to Ratingen, Damien Germès, Senior Vice President of NGK Spark Plug Europe, handed over a cheque for the sum of 5,000 euros for the benefit of the Down’s Syndrome Association in the UK. After leaving Ratingen, Stuart finally reached his destination, NGK’s French production site in Meung sur Loire, on July 22, right on schedule. By then he had biked a total distance of 1,100 kilometres and collected more than 22,000 euros.

“With his charity ride, Stuart started a great project. We are proud to support him and the Down’s Syndrome Association with our donation and hope that he will continue to raise awareness for the work of this extremely important organisation,” commented Damien Germès.
